What to drink whilst reading The Moonstone

December 4, 2016

Inspired by a gin tasting at Majestic last week, I'll be posting 2 books to enjoy with gin this week.

I'm starting with the Cotswolds Dry Gin. This is a non-chill filtered gin packed with botanicals that looks like a moonstone when mixed with tonic. This is due to the separation of the oils when diluted. It has a fabulous flavour. We tried it with Fevertree Mediterranean Tonic and black pepper, and were hit with the flavour of cardamom  and citrus.

I couldn't help but pick The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins to read with this gin, considering the namesake of the missing diamond. My winter is certainly being filled with detective novels and The Moonstone is the true classic. Light the fire, pour yourself a balloon glass filled with ice and sip away into Collins' world of mystery.
